Evaluate an open source Web content management system.
Evaluation Chart: Joomla
Each term was measured using a measurement tool ranging from 1 (not present or very bad implementation) to 5 (very wide, easy to use, clear, ...)
Which one would you choose and why?
From the reviews I read online (no personal experience with any of these as the learning curve seemed very steep and only a few offered a decent length free trail) I gathered that Joomla was the most popular one of all. This however does not mean that it doesn't have any flaws (I'd still use Joomla simply because it seems to be the most user-friendly one and had the best support reviews). The main issues that Joomla has is that it isn't possible to adjust certain aspects of the interface which could make your job easier by placing things in easy to use places and it isn't as functional on different platforms (lack of versioning). Which to me seems odd that something with the highest popularity has no support for this concept.
However the pros outweigh the cons as Joomla offers a wide range of different options that leave other Management systems in its wake. These offer both high analytical and interface value which aren't normally seen in other open source management systems. But the bottom line is that it uses an easy design surrounded by a template of good quality. This combination is vital for its succes as other management systems don't offer the same functionality and aren't as easy to use when you first pick them up.
